Did you know that companies in the UK must now include certain regulatory information on their websites and in their email footers or they will breach the Companies Act and risk a fine. The legislation came into force on 1st January 2007 so if you don’t have it on your website we would recommend you add it. The information does not need to appear on every page and many websites will list the required information, on their ‘About’ or ‘Legal’ pages.
Companies Act 2006 and Business Names Act 1985
Every UK company should list on its website:
- its name
- its company registration number;
- its place of registration; and
- its registered office address.
Sole traders and partnerships who carry on a business in the UK under a business name (very roughly, not the names of the trader/partners) must also make certain website disclosures:
- in the case of a sole trader, the individual’s name;
- in the case of a partnership, the name of each member of the partnership;
- in either case, in relation to each person named, an address in the UK at which service of any document relating in any way to the business will be effective.

This is a question we get asked a lot!…“Which is better pay per click or SEO?”
They are both a form of search marketing, both are key to an internet marketing strategy though the similarities end there…
All search engine marketing is advertising whichever way you look at it. Your either spending money or time to get you listing noticed and drive traffic to your website

There’s no right answer I’m afraid and you won’t get us to committing to one side!
We use both Mac and PC here at NOW Design and for very different reasons we like them.Ok so Mac’s look cool , you may feel cool if you have one and the software suite bundled in is great. In short they’re a creative’s ideal machine… But then they’re not the cheapest and if it ever goes wrong, you’ll find it a lot harder to get it fixed (and more expensive). The premise is simple: Internet Explorer 6 is out dated, it doesn’t follow and support key web standards and should be phased out as soon as possible. Support for it can add between 20 – 30% of time to the build stage of a project!
Far from being anti-Microsoft, we would like to encourage web users to move to modern browsers such as IE8, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera. IE6 accounts for about 10% of web usage, largely business users who havent got round to upgrading (it is free if you didnt know!).

Well this could be a controversial topic couldnt it?!
We deal both with our current client base, our new clients, and potential clients on a very regular basis and often the source of direction comes from the client following a “lightbulb” moment. As professional website designers who have spent many years in the trade building up our knowledge and skill sets we feel we are well positioned to advice on these such ideas. The client may not always like the fact that there idea which they thought would make them the next Richard Branson is very quickly dropped, but they often thank us for it later!
On the other hand we have worked closely with clients to build on some initial ideas following brainstorming, and enabled them to rethink their business plan and make it stronger and provide longevity.

Colours play a significant role in all areas of life and it is also said that colours can influence both feelings and emotions.
Therefore the right choice of a colour for use in your logo / brand identity can be the route to attracting more visitors to a website and giving them the right ‘signal’ when they arrive.
We have put together a list of colours and the feelings / emotions which are often linked with them. Read more on this blog post »
